Events by Emily just spent the week in Iceland, at a friend's wedding at Hotel Budir. The ceremony was in this beautiful church, called Budakirkja. Located in the south coast of the island's Snoefellnes peninsula, the first Budakirkja was built in 1703 by a local merchant. It rotted down, then was reconstructed in 1848 at the request of another merchant's widow. Recently the church was restored and moved to its current spot, where weddings are often held.
The church was the perfect remote location for a small ceremony! There are two bells in the church from the 17th century, and the door ring is an original, dating from 1703. Hotel Budir, next to the church, is a popular location for wedding receptions as well.
